Despite Maggie's two left feet, Tru is bound and determined to bring out her inner cowgirl by teaching her to ride a cutting horse, trained to separate cattle from the rest of the heard. While her riding improves, their attraction intensifies, but Tru knows he can never let her into his heart - for her own good.
In Wishing Springs, a community full of meddling but well-meaning townsfolk, Maggie discovers the home she's always longed for. But she's holding something back - a secret that could destroy her reputation and any future she's ever hoped for with the cowboy she might just love.
I'm just going to go head and get this out of the way - I loved this book! This is one of those books that has a lot going on and several story lines working at the same time, but they all intertwine to make this an amazing story.
Let's start with Maggie. She has an advice column in the Houston paper and she's pretty popular with her readers. She tries to do a good dead for her friend by doing an interview in Wishing Springs. The interview is a complete and total disaster and she embarrasses herself in front of everyone. At least that is what she thinks.
As Maggie makes her temporary move to Wishing Springs, we began to see just how much she lacks in self-confidence. She is skiddish and worries quite a bit, and never really gets around to thinking of herself as anything other than a screw up. It is apparent from the beginning that she has a background that she wants to keep hidden, but as that background begins to come up in the story it makes us love Maggie so much more. I want more of her story.
Tru is your gorgeous cowboy. As this story progresses and we get to know the man behind the name, we find out that he is an amazing man. He has people in his life who count on his so much and he just gives of himself so freely to them to make them happy. I loved watching him work with Maggie and the horses, and to see the realization that he was falling in love so quickly. Tru and his brothers are the main characters of this new series, and I know that we are going to enjoy all their stories so much.
There is also Jenna. Jenna is a young girl that Maggie rescues and takes under her wing. She comes from a horrible background and is trying so hard to make a life for herself. The was Wishing Springs rallies around Jenna is amazing and reminds me of all the great things that can happen when you live in a small town.
This book is absolutely amazing. The second book of this series comes out this summer, and it cannot come soon enough. I closed this book wanting so much more of these stories from Wishing Springs.
